Selecting an EC centrifugal fan for an air handling unit involves more than matching an impeller diameter or choosing the highest airflow rating. The fan needs to deliver the required air volume against the resistance of the complete system, while meeting electrical, acoustic and installation requirements.
Inline duct fans are widely used in residential buildings, commercial facilities and auxiliary industrial ventilation systems. Installed directly within the ductwork, they support supply air, exhaust air, local ventilation and equipment cooling.
When selecting a centrifugal fan, airflow, static pressure, efficiency and noise are usually the first parameters considered. Impeller material, however, is often reduced to a simple assumption: metal is stronger, while plastic is lighter.
